Walking through the medieval streets of the city of Arezzo you will be enchanted to listen to the history of the ancient market square of Arezzo called Piazza Grande, with the picturesque streets that take their names from the artisans who had shops and laboratories arranged around the square.You will then stop to admire the Vasari Logge designed in the 16th century by the great artist from Arezzo to welcome the ateliers of the best master craftsmen of the city.
You will be told the story of the many 'doors of the dead' that can still be seen near the square.
They will be shown the well and fountain,telling the daily life in Arezzo in past centuries.
Walking towards the park 'Prato' and the Cathedral in the highest part of the city where time seems to have stopped, you will go back in time to the time of the Etruscans, the Romans and the period in which Arezzo was a fierce rival of Florence.The trek will then continue all around the Medici Fortress, which retains in its name the memory of the oppressive purposes for which it was built and will then take place around the ancient fourteenth-century walls and the city gates. This trekking and guided tour will be a way to get to know many details of the culture and history of Arezzo literally making a journey back in time in a very suggestive and articulated way.
